At LPS Hayward we have a fun week we call Week Without Walls. We spend a week learning, exploring, making something we would never get to do in a normal school week. Some groups went hiking, some learned photography for iPhones, some kickboxed every day. I spent a week helping a group of 17 awesome boys and 1 amazing girl establish our bike club-STACK CITY Bikes. We will work with the East Bay Bike Coalition and Bike Rescue to create the coolest club on campus. Scrape bikes, modified bikes, art bikes. . it's all coming! Our first ride out. . .to the gas station for snacks. ![]()

On Tuesday we were so honored to be given a comprehensive tour, courtesy of Iz at the Crucible. We truly feel so lucky to be a BART ride away from such an incredible resource of art and knowledge.
What a way to start off our Week Without Wall adventure. A visit to the Scraper Bike King himself. We spent an afternoon with Champ (Tyrone Stevenson) and his assistant Antonio. They helped is fix up some cruisers we brought, showed us the art of taping spokes and were generally inspiring, warm, welcoming hosts. Thank you!!
WE did it. We made it through four days of the Bay Area Maker Faire and all it's glory and HEAT! It was awesome, we learned so much, we made cool connections and collected so many ideas for what we want next year to be like and how we want to present ourselves. Thank you to all the Makers who made is possible and represented LPS in the best way. Adam Savage! Our beautiful booth!
