This week we started our ARCADE Project inspired by the YouTube classic Caine's Arcade. To amp up for the design process MDs bonded over group photos to represent their team's style. Here are some examples. Enjoy.

A peek into Block 5 in the ideate stage of their ARCADE design. This week MDs focused on prototyping with foam core, building intersecting planar models and volume models using tutorials by STEAMStudio and my written directives. Cottage Cheese (rough cuts) versus Cheesecake (smooth cuts) was the motto this week and now a permanent part of our maker vocabulary. These assignments required exact measurements, and precise attention to directions. This is a step up from Prototyping 1.0 with coffee shop materials, and will help us with prototyping in our LIGHT projects and other challenges that require us to build structures.
MDs were given the okay to film their gift unwrapping excitement. Share their joy and anticipation below Thank you to those who shared their experience! MDs have been working on their Maker Books on and off and this week were finally done customizing them. These will house all of their analog work and sketches for the year. I'm amazed at how their design fits their personalities and aesthetics so well. None are the same, just like them.
The day has finally come! MDs have spent some incredibly focused (but short) time creating gifts for their anonymous recipients based on their user profile. MDs then went through an accelerated Design Thinking process to come up with something that would fit their user's aesthetics and preferences while taking into account their values, dreams, memories, etc. This was an exciting day of selfless acts and pure joy |
